Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers

Dayton Professional Chapter

About Us

The SHPE Dayton Chapter became an official member of the SHPE “familia” in July 2005  (shpe.org). It was formerly known as the Ohio Southwest chapter, but has rebranded as the Dayton chapter since the organization has grown in the region. We celebrated our inception with a “SHPE Latin Night” event where members took free dance lessons and participated in a dance competition.

While we are a Hispanic organization, we welcome people of all backgrounds to join. Our members include local (and national) leaders across industry, academia, and the DoD who are here to support your professional goals and give back to the local Latinx community. We also have connections with other local Engineering and STEM organizations.

Some of our past events include:

  • Professional networking events with industry and DoD leaders
  • School supply drives for the local high schools
  • Noche de Ciencias (Science Night) to excite K-12 about STEM fields
  • College application drives with waived application fees for students
  • Regional and National leadership conferences
  • General BBQs and get-togethers (we are familia and like to have fun too!)
